Who Is Playing Politics?
This week has seen the meltdown of the Democratic Party. Lead by Senators Tom Daschel, Ted Kennedy, and former Vice President, Al Gore. I couldnt be happier!
First it started with a speech in San Francisco California by Al Gore where in he bashed President Bushs Policy on Iraq. Stating that he should build a coalition just like Bush the elder. Well Mr. Gore, it was only the week prior that the President went in front of the General Assembly to pretty much put the ball in their court. Is that not trying to build a coalition? Has not the President been seeking support amongst the NATO allies? Who for the most part seem to be unwilling to stand by the tenets of the NATO, charter that in simple terms states that by attacking one member nation an enemy attacks them all. I would say Mr. Gore that the President has been doing exactly what it is you were condemning him for not doing. And since there seems to more and more evidence of a link between Iraq and Al Queda, then Iraq is guilty of aiding a sworn enemy of the United States.
The next stop in the meltdown was the speech given this past Wednesday by Senator Tom Daschel. In a speech given by the President, where he said that;
The Democrats were more interested in themselves than the security of the American people
The President was referring the to the Homeland Security Bill. Of course the enlightened Senator from South Dakota totally took the sentence out of context, and for the most part misinterpreted the meaning of the quote. In an amusing display of self-righteous indignation, the Senator fumed and sputtered, ranted and raved as he pounded the podium. Angrily denouncing President Bush for calling into question the patriotism of many of his fellow DEMOCRATIC senators that had served faithfully in Americas wars. Additionally he accused the President of playing politics with the coming war with Iraq. PLAYING POLITICS? Excuse me Senator, but is it not true that you and your fellow Democrats are still sitting on the Defense Spending Appropriations Bill that has simply languished on your desk now for 5 months? And havent YOU said that all debate concerning Iraq should be put off until AFTER, the November elections? I would say you were hoping to pick up some seats, ensuring any bill that is NOT on YOUR agenda is dead on arrival. In fact one of your colleagues has even suggested that any debate be put off until after January wherein those seats you are hoping to have picked up, would be installed. If that is not playing politics I dont know what is. Dont look now Senator, but your hypocrisy is showing!
And finally we had the speech by none other than Senator Teddy Kennedy yesterday, who has never seen a war that he hasnt been afraid of. With predictions yet again of doom and gloom, creating images of thousand of body bags, and basically a bad mouthing of the wonderful servicemen and women that he seems to so sincerely doubt are capable of anything approaching dedication, devotion of duty, and sacrifice. (In my mind that is a slap in the face to my son and all of the other people I know that are and have served their country). The Senator, took President Bush to task, and said that we should not commit to anything or any action until all possible avenues of resolution have been exhausted. IS HE KIDDING?! Senator, really, Saddem Hussian has had 8 long years to comply with the terms of the treaty. The United States has repeatedly asked that the UN enforce those terms and as usual the Useless Nations has done what it does best,,, NOTHING! They fume, they fuss, they moan and discuss, but have taken no action. I truly believe Senator; we have ALREADY exhausted every avenue. You should take heed of the words spoken by your late brother John F Kennedy;
Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe, to assure the survival and the success of liberty.We dare not tempt them with weakness. For only when our arms are sufficient beyond doubt can we be certain beyond doubt that they will never be employedIn the long history of the world, only a few generations have been granted the role of defending freedom in its hour of maximum danger. I do not shrink from this responsibility - I welcome it. I do not believe that any of us would exchange places with any other people or any other generation. The energy, the faith, the devotion which we bring to this endeavor will light our country and all who serve it - and the glow from that fire can truly light the worldAnd so, my fellow Americans: ask not what your country can do for you - ask what you can do for your country.
I ask you, members of the Democratic Party, who is playing politics now? You have however ensured a good series of Republican/Conservative victories in various races about the country, and for that, I THANK YOU! Please continue the meltdown, as you obviously have nothing to offer the people of the United States.
